Solar battery storage manufacturers: 78 companies by country and type (2026)
By The PV Index · Published 30 October 2026 · Last updated 30 October 2026. Counts as of 2026-11-02.
The PV Index lists 78 battery energy storage manufacturers from 17 countries. China has the most (34), followed by the United States (13), Germany (8) and South Africa (5). 13 of them make battery cells, 26 make home batteries, 15 serve commercial and industrial sites, 32 build utility-scale systems, and 10 work on long-duration or non-lithium chemistries.
This guide groups every storage maker in the directory by country and by segment, explains the difference between cell makers, system makers and integrators, and ends with a checklist for choosing a battery for a solar system. Each name links to its listing page with the official website, location and product focus. The counts come from the directory and update with every release.
Battery storage manufacturers by country
China accounts for 34 of the 78 makers (44%). 18 are based in Europe (Austria, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom) and 15 in North America. Country names link to our country pages, which also list local installers, distributors and events.
Storage manufacturers by segment
Storage companies tend to specialise by customer size, so the first question is which segment you are buying for. The segments below come from each listing's product tags, and many companies appear in more than one.
| Segment | Makers | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Battery cells | 13 | make the cells that go into storage systems (and often their own systems too) |
| Home batteries | 26 | batteries for houses, usually 5 to 20 kWh, paired with a hybrid inverter |
| Commercial & industrial (C&I) | 15 | cabinet and container systems for factories, offices, farms and fuel stations |
| Utility-scale BESS and integrators | 32 | containerised systems of megawatt-hours for solar farms and the grid, and the integrators that build them |
| Long-duration and non-lithium | 10 | flow, sodium-ion, zinc, iron-air and gravity storage, mostly aimed at many hours of discharge |
| Balcony and portable storage | 6 | plug-in batteries for balcony panels and portable power stations |
| Off-grid batteries | 3 | battery systems built for sites without a grid connection |
Battery cell makers (13)
AESC, CALB, CATL, EVE Energy, Gotion High-tech, Great Power, HiNa Battery, Hithium, LG Energy Solution, REPT Battero, Samsung SDI, Sunwoda and SVOLT Energy. Cells are the building block: system makers and integrators buy them, add a battery management system, cooling, enclosures and power electronics, and sell the finished product. 10 cell makers in this group are based in China. When two systems are offered with the same cells, the difference is in the integration, the warranty and the service behind it.
Home batteries (26)
AlphaESS, Anker SOLIX, Bluetti, BMZ Group, BSLBATT, BYD Energy Storage, Dyness, E3/DC (HagerEnergy), EcoFlow, Enphase Storage (IQ Battery), Fenecon, Fortress Power, FranklinWH, HT Infinite Power, Hubble Energy, LG Energy Solution, Lunar Energy, Marstek Energy, NINE Energy Storage, Powervault, Pylontech, Pytes, SENEC, Sigenergy, sonnen and VARTA. Home batteries are sold through installers and usually pair with a hybrid inverter, either from the same brand or from an approved list. Our inverter manufacturers guide lists the hybrid inverter makers.
Commercial and industrial storage (15)
AlphaESS, BlueNova, BSLBATT, CellCube, Dyness, Fenecon, Gotion High-tech, HT Infinite Power, KSTAR, Narada Power, NINE Energy Storage, Pytes, TAICO, Tesvolt and Wattstor. C&I systems range from wall cabinets to containers and are used to cut peak demand charges, store midday solar for the evening, and keep critical loads running during outages.
Utility-scale BESS and system integrators (32)
AESC, BlueNova, BYD Energy Storage, CALB, CATL, e-STORAGE (Canadian Solar), Energy Vault, Eos Energy Enterprises, EVE Energy, Fluence Energy, Form Energy, Great Power, HiNa Battery, HT Infinite Power, HyperStrong, KSTAR, Libattion, Narada Power, Nidec Conversion, NINE Energy Storage, Powin, Prevalon Energy, REPT Battero, Saft, Samsung SDI, Stryten Energy, Sumitomo Electric, Sungrow Energy Storage, Sunwoda, TAICO, Trina Storage and Wärtsilä Energy Storage (Valo). At this scale buyers often contract with an integrator, which combines cells, power conversion, controls and an energy management system into a complete plant and may also take on construction and long-term service.
Long-duration and non-lithium storage (10)
CellCube, Energy Vault, Eos Energy Enterprises, ESS Inc, Form Energy, Great Power, HiNa Battery, Invinity Energy Systems, Sumitomo Electric and VFlowTech. These companies use flow batteries (vanadium or iron), sodium-ion, zinc, iron-air or gravity storage. Most target applications that need many hours of discharge, or want to avoid lithium supply chains.
Balcony and portable storage (6)
Anker SOLIX, Bluetti, EcoFlow, Jackery, Marstek Energy and Zendure. These are consumer products: plug-in batteries for small balcony solar kits and portable power stations that can be charged from a folding panel.
Off-grid batteries (3)
Discover Battery, Jackery and TORCHN (Weikechuang Solar). For a full off-grid system you will also need an inverter-charger and usually a local installer; see the Developers & EPC category for off-grid and mini-grid specialists.
Chemistry: why most solar batteries are LFP
20 makers in the directory tag their products as LFP (lithium iron phosphate, also written LiFePO4). LFP has become the usual chemistry for stationary storage because it is thermally more stable than the nickel-based chemistries used in many electric cars, tolerates many charge cycles and contains no cobalt. Its drawback, lower energy density, matters less in a battery that sits on a wall or in a container. The long-duration group above covers the main alternatives.
Check the company behind the warranty
A battery warranty often runs ten years or more, so the maker's health matters as much as the datasheet. Our listings currently note financial difficulty or restructuring for these storage companies (details on each listing page):
This is not a reason to rule a product out, but if you are buying one of these brands, ask who now honours the warranty and who provides service in your country.
How to choose a solar battery manufacturer
- Size the segment first. Use the table above: home batteries for houses, C&I cabinets or containers for businesses, an integrator for utility-scale projects, balcony storage for plug-in kits.
- Check inverter compatibility. A battery only works with inverters that support its communication protocol. Ask for the maker's compatibility list, or buy battery and hybrid inverter as a matched pair.
- Ask for safety certificates. Common ones are IEC 62619 for industrial lithium batteries, UL 9540 and UL 9540A in North America, and the national grid-connection approval for the inverter. Ask for the certificate itself, not just a logo on the datasheet.
- Read the warranty in detail. Compare years, guaranteed throughput (MWh) or cycles, the capacity guaranteed at the end of the term, and what is covered (parts, labour, shipping).
- Look for local service and spares. A replacement module in days matters more than a small price gap. Ask the distributor who handles warranty claims in your country.
- Check monitoring and controls. Most systems use the maker's app or the inverter's portal; larger systems need an energy management system. See Software for independent platforms.
